- Macomb - Hazel L. Tippey, age 86, of 733 E. Franklin St., Macomb, Ill., passed away at 1:24 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on July 19, 1919, in Ipava, Ill., the daughter of Guy and Gladys Smith Kingery. She married Keith G. Tippey on March 15, 1941, in Astoria. He passed away on March 9, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother in infancy and one sister in infancy.
She is survived by two sons, Norman K. (Linda) of Galesburg and Dennis D. (Nancy) of West Point, Iowa; four grandchildren, Matthew J. Tippey of Burlington, Iowa, Heather L. Tippey of Indianapolis, Ind., Stephen M. Tippey of Iowa City, Iowa, and Adam D. Tippey of West Point, Iowa; two stepgrandchildren, Stephenie McClery and William McClery; and three great-grandchildren, Richard Tippey, Elizabeth Tippey and Stephany Tippey.
She lived in the Astoria and Summum areas for many years before moving to Macomb in 1956. Hazel had worked at Wal-Mart for 13 years before her retirement.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at the Summum Cemetery in Summum, Ill. Reverend Lee Unger will officiate. Friends may call at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb after 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, until the time of service. There will be no family visitation.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
