  	His mother listed his name as Edgar "Fremont" Cross on her Pension Papers. So I have revised the FAG Memorial to reflect his name of Fremont. It is possible that Fremont is still an error, since some of the following generations retained the name of Ferrin. His death certificate lists "Fremont" as his middle name also. Perhaps his father Ferrin named his middle name Ferrin, and his mother changed it to Fremont. It is still a mystery. [3]

  He was a Farmer and Selectman of Goshen, in charge of the Romeo Brown (his Uncle) Farm...husband of Susan Isabell Washburn and father of Mindwell Alice Cross, Howard Leroy Cross and lastly, Harry Ferrin Cross, also buried in Goshen Cemetery. ...Edgar and his youngest son, Harry had tragic deaths. Edgar's father Ferrin Abijah Cross was shot through the head and killed while fighting for the North in Cold Harbor, VA. during the Civil War. Vermont Vital Records gives date of death as 10 Nov 1903, not sure why headstone says the 11th, perhaps to hide the cause of death listed, "suicide by shooting himself through face immediately under the right-eye with a rifle while insane..aged 42 years, 1 month and 17 days....Married....Farmer." On death certificate wife lists his middle name as Fremont, but it was Ferrin, perhaps to hide the suicide? [1]
