She was born on May 7, 1937 to Everett and Eloise McGlaflin Dutton of Bethel, VT.

She graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1955, and the University of Vermont in 1959, where she earned a BS degree in Music Education. In 1960 she married Robert M. During the 1970s she and Jim Blakeman staged annual productions of Gilbert and Sullivan musicals for the South Royalton School 5th and 6th graders. She accompanied numerous singing groups including The Vocalaires and The Thetford Chamber Singers. In 1977 she and Robert divorced. From 1980 to 2000, she worked at the VA Hospital in White River Junction.

In 1990, Judith married Jonathan Ladd of Brownsville, VT. Together they enjoyed traveling to national historic sites and working extensively on family geneologies.

Mr. Ladd passed away in 1994.

From 1993 to 2003, Judith and her beloved corgi, Jake, lived in Post Mills, VT.
